Chinese Doctors Jet Into Zimbabwe

A team of ten doctors is in the country to replace the 15 Chinese experts that are leaving the country today.

In a meeting to introduce the new Chinese medical team and to obtain feedback of the work of the out going as well as exploring further avenues of cooperation in Harare yesterday, Chinese Ambassador  to Zimbabwe Huang Ping said the arriving team doctors from China are experts in neurology and cervical cancer.

“This team (arriving team) is like the old team (the departing),most of them are experts majoring in neurology and cervical cancer,” Ping said. “Our aim is to help Zimbabwe’s efforts in maximising services in these two areas.”

The Chinese experts that are leaving the country had stayed in the country working at local hospitals for a year.

Besides providing experts, the Chinese are also training Zimbabwean medical staff in both Zimbabwe and China, providing with equipment and also building departments into state of the art specialties according to the Chinese Ambassador.

“In terms of donations for medical equipment, we have donated several aptitudes of medical equipment, including children’s respiration equipment et cetera as required from our friends in Zimbabwe,” Ping said.

“We are also engaging in capacity building by inviting Zimbabwe medical staff to attend seminars in China for sharing experiences and knowledge in various aspects including hospital management, special disease treatment, traditional medicine et cetera.”

The ambassador said that China is working to also bring doctors in traditional medicine to Zimbabwe.

The Chinese are also building a warehouse for storing medical drugs and medicines.
