Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) chairman, Tafadzwa Msarara has responded to accusations of corruption by ZANU-PF youths Godfrey Tsenengamu and Lewis Matutu.
The GMAZ chairman said the statements by Matutu and Tsenengamu are false, malicious and defamatory.
“I, as an individual or through my company, have not participated in the subsidy programme,” Msarara added on.
“Given the irresponsible statements that have been issued which as I have said above are false, malicious and defamatory, I have instructed my legal practitioners to institute legal proceedings against the 2 gentlemen to vindicate my rights.”
Msarara argued that the brands produced by his company are not available on the black market against Matutu’s claims that the GMAZ chairman is supplying mealie meal to the unconventional market.
“It is common cause that the country is presently experiencing a shortage of maize induced by drought,” he said.
“I am working, through Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe, on a private sector initiative to augment Government efforts in the importation of maize.”
“Contrary to the suggestion that I am responsible for the shortage of maize meal, I am actually working to ensure that the current shortages are addressed, “Msarara went on.
The ZANU-PF youths accused besides Msarara, Billy Rautenberg and Kuda Tagwirei of corrupt activities hurting the economy.
The two ruling party youths leaders said they are prepared for consequences that may arise from their actions.
