FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi reportedly wants his side to make at least four top signings in order to compete with Real Madrid again next season.
Following their UEFA Champions League exit earlier this week, the Catalan giants need to beat Los Blancos in the upcoming El Clasico to remain in the race for the league title or their season could be considered a write-off.
However, even if they beat Real at the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend, they would still need to rely on their eternal rivals to slip up one more time in order to have a realistic chance of claiming the La Liga trophy.
Rumours have it that the Madrid club will spend heavily in the upcoming transfer window, and Messi apparently wants Barca to match their ambitions and sign at least four players.
According to Diario Gol, the superstar wants the Blaugrana to sign a new centre back, with Jeremy Mathieu having often disappointed and Javier Mascherano not getting any younger.
In addition, he is said to want the club to sign a new right back after they failed to fill the void left by Dani Alves’ departure to Juventus, as well as a new central midfielder to relieve Andres Iniesta of some pressure, with Andre Gomes having failed to impress since joining at the beginning of this season.
