Inaugural Germany Africa Business Forum Shows Promise

With under two weeks until the inaugural Germany-Africa Business Forum, the programme is now fully booked and the venue nearly sold out.

Germany will host the first-ever privately held event exclusively dedicated to strengthening trade and investment ties between the country and the African continent. Organized one day each year in Berlin, the Germany-Africa Business Forum (GABF) draws together African business, political and societal leaders with Germany’s preeminent companies and policymakers in order to forge stronger trade and investment ties. GABF aims at bringing together shrewd entrepreneurs, key opinion leaders and social influencers, CEO’s and selected politicians and non-governmental organizations to develop fresh commercial and social concepts that shape business, as well as economic thought and institutions.

The forum is set for Berlin on March 23.

Guillaume Doane, Executive Director of the Germany-Africa Business Forum, said there was considerable excitement to bring together the German and African political and business communities.

“We expect the matchmaking potential to convert into some serious deal-making opportunities,” said Doane.

Countries with evident interest are Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Benin, South Africa and Rwanda, who will showcase their investment opportunities. Ministers and State governors from the said countries have since confirmed their participation at the event.  H.E. Francois Kanimba, Minister of Trade, Industry and EAC Affairs of Rwanda, has joined the program and will deliver the final Country Focus presentation on March 23. Also joining the roster as presenters are H.E. Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Executive Governor of Katsina State, in Nigeria, and H.E. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, in Nigeria.  Confirmed Governmental speakers for the Germany-Africa Business Forum include Charles Huber, MP and Member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, Republic of Germany; Okechukwu E. Enelamah, Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment of Nigeria; H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea; and Carole Kariuki, CEO of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
