Vice President Kembo Mohadi has told Chinese delegates that Zimbabwe is a safe destination with the United States of America cautioning travellers to the Southern African nation.

The Vice President was talking during a welcome reception of a delegation from China to Zimbabwe today.

“Destination branding has also been or strategic focus area given that if we do not brand ourselves we will invariably be at the mercy of the international media,” Mohadi said.

“We need to share our own narrative working with friendly and strategic partners like Touchroad. Zimbabwe is just a gem, an awakening giant, a safe and secure tourism and investment destination.”

The Vice President, who was representing President Emmerson Mnangagwa during the welcome, went on to pay tribute to the Chinese leader Xi Jinping for supporting and investing in Zimbabwe.

“China and Zimbabwe enjoy excellent relations which have been further consolidated following the elevation of our relations that of Comprehensive, Strategic Cooperation and partnership,” Mohadi said.

“The status of relations between our two countries provides immense business and investment opportunities, across all sectors including the tourism sector.”

Zimbabwe has for the past year been going to China for economic help using its Look East Policy.

The US government sanctioned Zimbabwe over human rights issues and has extended the embargoes stating that the African country’s policies pose a threat to America.

Zimbabwe has been calling for the removal of embargoes arguing that the “illegal sanctions” are hurting the economy.
