President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) has continued with his word of hope against economic challenges facing Zimbabwe.
The southern African country is currently facing high inflation with the nation’s currency losing value against the United States Dollar (USD).
“The economic reforms we have embarked on are beginning to bear fruit. I am aware of the pain being experienced by the poor and the marginalised,” the President said.
“Fellow compatriots, getting the economy working again will require time, patience, unity of purpose and perseverance.”
The country’s leader went on to say Zim,babweans must adequetly prepare for the opportunities and challenges which are ahead.
“Let us be mindful that the Zimbabwe we all want, with opportunities and hope shall only be achieved through productivity, innovation, responsiveness, persistence, deliberate planning and disciplined focus,” President Mnangagwa said.
“Our Vision 2030 envisages a Zimbabwe with a digital and knowledge driven economy. As such, we shall re-invigorate the implementation of the e-Government programme, as well as operationalise the National Data Centre, to foster digital capabilities across the entire economy,’
Current government’s vision is to make Zimbabwe an upper middle income country by 2030.
The 2019 SONA comes at a time when the government is experiencing demonstrations which the United Nations has attributed to the economic situation in Zimbabwe.
The government of the day has been responding by creating policies with specific procedures to take before workers go on industrial actions for better wages and living conditions.
