Information Communication Technology (ICT) Minister, Jenfan Muswere has today in Harare officially opened Zimpost ‘s national e-commerce platform that facilitates online shopping.

The platform at the www.zimbabwemall.post address enables customers to select items onto a shopping cart, confirm their order, make payment and Zimpost renders delivery logistics both locally and internationally.

Muswere said, “Distinguished guests, with the zimbabwemall.post our people in the diaspora will be able to buy groceries from sellers on the platform for their parents, relatives and loved ones back in Zimbabwe and Zimpost will pick up the groceries and deliver them to the recipients.”

“For our SMEs, be they sculptors, basket makers or any other producer, this platform gives you the access to global markets; I am heartened to learn that the National Handicraft Centre is already on this platform.”

The Minister also said domestic trade will be facilitated and made easy as sellers on the platform will get their wares accessed by customers who will be able to buy from the comfort of their homes from any shop or e-seller enrolled on it and delivery will be effected by Zimpost through the Zimbabwe Mall Post.

“The click and sell as well as at the click and buy activities will be complemented by Zimpost’s pick and deliver  in order to complete the market fulfilment process,” Muswere said.

“This shopping alternative promotes social distancing and observance of other COVID-19 protocols as it eliminates the need to physically visit a shopping site every time items need to be bought.”

Zimpost will get the purchased goods delivered through its 192 partner postal organisations spread globally for international buyers according to the Minister.

The setting up of an E-Commerce platform is part of Zimpost trajectory journey to being digital according to the Post Master General Sifundo Chief Moyo.

Moyo who was presenting on ‘Zimpost Digitalisation Journey and Milestones’ also revealed the company’s plan to ensure financial inclusion in Zimbabwe.
